When a manufacturer makes a high quality product, high quality heat treating is an integral part of the process. Akron Steel Treating can provide you with that high quality processing and the needed capacity for rapid turnaround. Many times AST can group similar parts from other customers for better furnace utilization and for lower overall cost. Likewise the 24/7 overhead from our furnaces is spread over the approximately 1,200 different customers we service each year. AST’s certified quality programs, ISO 9001:2000 and NADCAP*, require a paper trail to document that all the heat treating processes were performed to the standard operating procedures, and to insure high quality heat treating on every job, every time. (* NADCAP = National Aerospace and Defense Contractor Accreditation Program.) No more "inspecting" the "quality" into the parts after the fact.

Many captive heat treating operations shut off their furnaces or do not utilize them three shifts per day. Heating and cooling of heat treating equipment is not a productive use of energy. The thermal stress on the equipment from turning it “on” and “off” drive up the maintenance costs on the equipment, as well as, the cost of heat treating your parts. AST uses our furnaces 24 hours a day and utilizes the energy consumed around the clock to heat actual parts, not the environment.
